An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

"Oasis are back from the dead. They’ve resurrected their old support act... History repeats itself; first as tragedy and second as farce. Big pungent farce, of the strength Jim Royle would expel after a particularly sprouty Xmas dinner." @spinal-bap.bsky.social 💯👞🥧

RIP. Is Imogen the literary equivalent of James Last’s Voodoo Party LP? Relatively serious question…

A lot less cute but everything is still sort of grounded in science.

It was a good procedural but it lacked the psychedelic element I like. I preferred Children of Time as this year’s family holiday audiobook which was far more ‘out’.

Yeah, it was a family audiobook for us.

My thoughts on the new Pynchon novel, Shadow Ticket, for @thequietus.com . Really enjoyed it, even more the second time through. Looking forward to my third. Like with all Pynchon it comes together more with repeat visits #pynchon #shadowticket #thomaspynchon #books

patreegs on instagram says

You need to listen to it once completely through while driving a car alone. Then you have to
listen to it indoors lying down. THEN you pick a few and listen to them WHILE you read the lyrics on your computer. You WILL find that you misheard some of the lyrics. DONT panic. Its COMPLETELY normal and healthy. DONT think about taylors life yet and DONT try to make sense of the lyrics and DONT panic if you dont like some of the songs at first bc your brain will LEARN to like them (evolutionary mechanism).
THEN, continue listening on loop as needed but have 2-3 that you sometimes just listen to on repeat. THEN re-emerge into the world and connect with others about their response to the text. THEN apply practically to your life. THEN examine how they fit into taylors. At this point you can start to lightly engage in online discourse if that feels healthy and safe.

Neon Genesis Evangelion was first broadcast thirty years ago today.

I'm going to attempt to articulate its impact - not just on me, and the different reasons I keep coming back to it, but on how it lands hard and lasts for a lot of people.

Thoughts incoming, throughout the day...
