Scientists should graduate ready to share what they know, effectively. Even the top science programs in our country do not require science communication and public engagement for their graduates. This is dangerous. Let's change the future. Sign the petition to make a difference: bit.ly/3LbnfHB

Fall term is creeping up and for the first time, I’ll be TA-ing at the grad student level. Kinda excited, kinda nervous. For those of you who’ve done it, any tips? Things you wish you knew before stepping into that role?

Hey everybody! @drjuliawester.bsky.social and I have a new paper!

We surveyed over 800 scientists, science communicators, and science educators who use social media.

Conclusion: Scientists no longer find Twitter useful or pleasant, and many have switched to Bluesky! 🧪🌎🦑

We'd like to thank 21 AFS members who volunteered their time to come to Washington for our first ever Capitol Hill Fly-in. The 7 groups braved sweltering summer temperatures to make more than 50 visits to various Congressional offices to do education and outreach on a variety of #fisheries issues.

As a grad student mentor, I've been working with undergrads aiming for grad school, but many struggle to find labs accepting students. Grants are tight, and PIs face tough choices. What advice would you give undergrads pursuing careers in aquatic sciences today?
