Postmarks have long served as evidence of when ballots, tax returns, and court filings were mailed. A new USPS rule changes that. Elena Patel explores the unintended consequences of this shift.
When a postmark no longer tracks mailing | Brookings

It started by targeting Black and brown people, and now it will aggressively target white people who stand in solidarity with Black and brown people.

This is why health care for trans kids is so important.

"In the end, this administration has exposed how the Supreme Court has made the Bill of Rights almost entirely reliant on the executive branch’s willingness to police itself. If federal police officers can violate constitutional rights with impunity, those rights may as well not exist."

Thing is, we DID hear about it at his confirmation hearing.

Every single senator who voted to confirm Hegseth knew he held these views about the laws of war.

They voted to confirm him anyway.
Everyone should read this terrifying thread about Hegseth’s published views wrt war crimes. It’s pretty fucking radical …. We needed to hear about this in his confirmation hearing.
A chapter in Hegseth’s book is literally titled “More Lethality, Less Lawyers.”

It’s almost as if there were signs!

"...the majority just doesn’t think discrimination against transgender and nonbinary individuals is a thing. But whether or not the Constitution forbids such discrimination, acting as if it doesn’t happen is not just violating long-settled standards of appellate procedure; it is unbecomingly mean."
Even though it mustered only 356 words to justify putting Trump's spiteful anti-trans passport policy back into effect, #SCOTUS managed to show us two of the flawed analytical moves it keeps making *only* in Trump cases to provide cover for granting emergency relief.

My latest, via "One First":

The Supreme Court's latest grant of emergency relief to the Trump administration illustrates in technicolor the direct (and ugly) consequences of the two different ways it keeps messing up "equity."
