I think my favorite romance plot device/toxic trait(?), is “this situation is emotionally complicated- we should have a threesome about it”. No where in the real world does that kind of brash, but entirely uninformed confidence lead to a HEA and we need that kind of dumb luck blind optimism.

So many people have no concept of just how critical the library market is for children's books. It's part of why I never bothered to try to self-publish the two MG books I wrote and was unable to sell: kids don't buy their own books. You can sell inexpensive ebooks direct to adults, not to kids.
Just heard an agent point out that if libraries are forbidden to buy a kidlit book, that book stands to lose like 60% of its sales. Individuals buying copies can't make up for that. And then the industry shies away from such books bc numbers, and the books don't get made at all.
That deciding to buy banned books for your own personal shelves doesn't even come close to solving the harms done by book banning, and actually we'd rather you show up and speak out at your school board and library board meetings and also help elect better candidates - or run for office yourself.
