If Schumer votes for cloture and there’s not a leadership challenge the Dems are genuinely cooked. They’re never going to raise another dime from people who understand that this is an emergency.
There are centrist Dems who dislike party leadership because they're venal careerists and the olds aren't letting go of their positions. There are progressive Dems who dislike party leadership substantively. Remarkable there hasn't been a convergence to sweep Schumer and the rest out by now.

I saw student protesters in encampments — yeah the ones adults demonized so much — offer a highly organized model for support, mutual aid.
People brought in food and water. Students organized shelter, first aid, and even educational opportunities.
We have models for how to sustain each other.

Everyone is trying to hold onto their jobs, even though what's needed is an immediate and protracted general strike and spending freeze. Not a day or a single day -- tools down for months... and that would mean we'd all lose our jobs and most of us would face food and housing insecurity.
