ICE was a n my neighborhood. They abducted people blocks away from my kid’s school. I had to stand watch at a bus stop to make sure kids got home safely.

I have not felt this level of abject utter rage since 9/11.

Fuck ICE.

New AP poll has Trump's approval on immigration down to an abysmal 38% as he rants psychotically about "shithole countries," smears Somalis, threatens large-scale denaturalization and remigration, and openly pines for more white immigrants and fewer nonwhite ones

And it isn’t just used by ICE. In 2023, Othel Moore, Jr. died in a Missouri jail cell after being left in a WRAP device.

WRAPs are in regular use in around 1,800 agencies — from local police to federal law enforcement.

🤔 … …. … Naah.
Polling: "Do you think the rich have too much political power in the U.S.?"

Yes: 80%
No: 8%

Independent voters are 81%/6% on this; even Trump voters are 68%/18%.

Maybe a political party could lead on this issue.

They are openly saying this.

Who would want to live in a country that works like that?

Interesting thread about a really good report that you absolutely should read! Why? Well, it confirms my priors… with added data! 😂

A couple things: 1) The thread doesn’t link to the report! You have to search for the link in the article from TNR. WTAF, people, that’s malpractice! 2) Alt text plz!
The politics we have as Americans ultimately is up to us. We can choose for our democracy to be a dreary march to the drab center or running over groups of people with a metaphorical bus. Or we can choose an imagination battle that realigns the center so we can fight and build on favorable terrain.

These five signals are from the executive summary, which is a pretty good synopsis. If you’re strapped for time at least give that a read, it’s only two pages! (But check out the appendices too. How voters think is key, and we were surprised Dems have more than 1.5x as many moderates as Rs!)

Voters in 2024 had both chronic and acute frustration about the economy. They wanted change and were skeptical of Harris and Dems’ capacity to deliver it. Right wing and corporate media effects are huge, but not insurmountable. But a lack of movement alignment makes this challenge more difficult.

Dems could choose this path! Many Dems *do have* core values and principles! Not leadership though, unless the core principles are the elite is untouchable and we will do anything for money from tech and finance bros.

We need to be primarying these people!
This is our operational definition of political strength: making decisions based on core values and principles, explaining choices with clear and persuasive arguments, drawing a contrast with one’s opponents, and making it clear why your approach is the better one. Dems could choose this.

Solidarity with the hunger strikers.

It is an egregious violation for them to be held on remand - without trial or conviction.

All for protesting against a genocide. Shameful.

The full requirements will end tourism in the United States.

This is really incredible. The government's battle to deport Abrego Garcia has apparently been based on a lie from the start. Not even the "gang affiliation" lie or the "human smuggling" lie, but the more basic assertion that he was ordered to be deported in the first place.
🚨Judge Xinis finds that, incredibly, Mr. Abrego Garcia was never ordered deported in 2019. She notes that every since this saga began all the way back in March, the government has NEVER been able to produce any evidence that the immigration judge actually issued a removal order.

WOW. So this is obviously a huge violation of this man's rights, and it illustrates a few things we're seeing broadly:

- DHS officers are ignoring peoples' IDs and instead requiring screening through their own systems
- Confirms @404media.co's reports of use of DHS's facial recognition app.
