No, I'd say it's racists and those pandering to them.

I think it's the open racism that they remember with such affection, not the heaps of stinking rubbish.
I was alive in 1970’s and it was shit.. I remember

Rubbish in streets because of bin strikes with swarms of rats ❌
Picket lines and seemingly never ending strikes ❌
Power cuts so you only had electricity for lights, cooking, heating, TV 3 etc days a week ❌
Skinheads itching to kick shit out of you❌

Genuinely shocked the figure is as low as 1 in 25. Who are the other 24 and what are they doing there?
🚨BREAKING | 1,600+ fossil fuel lobbyists given access to #COP30 in Brazil

EU governments alone brought 84 fossil fuel lobbyists, including representatives from TotalEnergies and Engie

Climate policies can't be effective if they are shaped by the industry that is most responsible for climate change

I told them a while ago they were sending stuff to the wrong email address (ie mine). It's remarkable how many companies don't do the most elementary diligence before sending customer details out to random people. Of course this joker trying to squat on my email address is the source of the problem.

kool-aid has been copiously consumed in the creation of this product.
The new AI function in ChessBase '26 to explain a position is, unfortunately, completely useless. ChatGPT does not 'see' where the pieces are.
- Black has double pawns on c7 and c6
- The knight on e6 is attacked by the pawn on f5
- Candidate move: Rb1 to contest Rb8
- Nc4 d5 is impossible, no-d-pawn

Aka bullshit merchants.
Sounds right:

The report found that the heaviest AI users are thought leadership writers (84%), PR/comms professionals (73%), and content marketing writers (73%).

IMO a per-mile road usage tax is quite a sensible idea, no reason not to apply it to all motorised vehicles though. Of course additional tax on fossil fuels too (as currently).

So AI has killed arXiv. Good job, tech bros. Real knowledge is such a threat when all you’ve got is regurgitated bullshit.
arXiv, a preprint publication for academic research that has become particularly important for AI research, has announced it will no longer accept computer science articles and papers that haven’t been vetted by an academic journal or a conference. Why?

A tide of AI slop.

Cornell University’s academic paper repository will no longer accept Computer Science papers still under review.

See also the thread from which this comes. Americans, even the progressive ones, are clearly getting a completely false impression of what life is like in the UK thanks to the disinformation being spread by fascists on both sides of the Atlantic.
Random violent attacks are just that, random. Like acts of god and medical emergencies. And they are very very rare. So rare that we do not live in fear. We just go out and about and get on with our lives.

Not quite sure why the media is presenting the Caerphilly result as a disaster for Labour, rather than as a perfect execution of its electoral strategy.

That strategy for *months* now has been to tell everybody who might otherwise be inclined to vote for them to fuck off.

And off they have fucked.

Indeed, the main point is that the policy as a whole is obnoxious, retrospective and racist in both intention and effect, with or without pensioners

Breaking promises made to people the government thinks unpopular, and saying bad luck with health or unemployment is as reprehensible as criminality, is bad not just for those facing deportation but for all of us who care about Britain as a country that believes in fair play, decency and honesty.
Lam says on air the policy is to remove those "because" they broke the rules/conditions under which they came

But her policy is to retrospectively change the rules/conditions under which they came!

Lam knows this will be perceived as unfair: she will feel "great personal sympathy" for deportees
