My poem is inspired by “Did You Always Have a Passion for Staying Very Still? Questions I Have for Living Statues,” by Iona Lee. #PoemsAbout #Mannequin @thebrokenspine.co.uk
How do you push
red words from a campaign of adverts and heavy reductions,
with its potential for unravelling
the wheres of how you are,
as signs above you,
to the back of your mind,
to be here, mannequin, unfailingly still?

Does the day console you
when you over-apologise for your lack of invention,
for merely filling its hours?

Does a passerby or two hear anything of your secrets,
your impressions of them formed,
discomforts in that stillness that is yours?

Do they borrow your single flower
from a spray-painted top of silver colour you model and present?

Did they train you in a circular poem
to shape your presence?

Would we notice your flickering on,
of a switch,
even with you without a crowd to entertain?

Will I see my fashion write-up review
make an outlet of magazine news,
a news story of us.

A great presentation from @wakefieldcivicsoc.bsky.social last night at Wakefield Exchange when the latest blue plaque to industrial locomotive builder, Thomas Peckett was unveiled. I was pleased to be able to make a small contribution to the research for this project. Peckett was baptised in /1

A simple tune comes with sunrise
Where it’s only the two of us
Just the shining in your eyes
All these days I’m not myself, but yours

I’ve lost my peace
Can’t recall how many times before…
Maybe the fourth
Maybe once more

My grandpa Beelzebub Gotobed is always complaining that the younger generation never shows the older generation any respect! Well, just to prove him wrong, here is my grandpa enjoying a special dish of his favourite steak and chips.

If you’re looking for books that play with your perception of reality while leaving you in stitches, then these two books by Rob Gotobed are an absolute must-read. The collections of short stories are as funny as they are intellectually engaging, with humour that’s both surreal and cerebral.

The new issue of Billy McCall's Behind the Zines is so good & focuses on the (I think) endlessly fascinating topic of zine distribution. (Available on Etsy, if you want to get yourself a copy.)
Cover of Behind the Zines: A Zine about Zines, issue 20, September 2025, features a black and white illustration of a woman rollerblading with zines swirling around her.
