The absolute minimum that congressional dems should be demanding re:shutdown is to stop the illegal impoundments. Like, what is the point of a budget if Trump can just ignore it? If republicans want to keep this clown show going they can kill the filibuster and pass it themselves.

Occurs to me that Trump's entire regime consolidation strategy is to persuade everyone through displays of force that the regime is already consolidated and there's no point in resisting. Which I don't think will work, but also shows how important public acts of noncompliance are.

Republicans are getting what they paid for: a court willing to cede its power to an executive but only if a Republican is in power. But Democrats will retake power, and John Roberts is all but guaranteeing that Trump’s Supreme Court will barely outlast the Trump administration.

there is no jurisprudence at work here. the republican court believes that anything a republican president is presumptively constitutional, even if it directly violates the unambiguous constitutional text and causes total chaos in law and policy.
