Social rent is the only truly affordable tenure and should be the majority of all housing delivered to meet the housing emergency, but HRAs cannot fund much needed capital upgrades, Decent Homes 2, decarbonisation *and* new building by themselves.

I was glad to join colleagues in signing this letter to the PM.

The two-child benefit cap is pushing children into poverty every day. It’s cruel, unjust, and economically short-sighted.

Scrapping it could lift 4.2 million people out of poverty. The moral case is clear. The time to act is now.
