Odds are this aggressively did not happen. But it would of course be just as unconstitutional to spend money donated to the government without a duly enacted appropriation as it is to spend tax money that way.
Trump: "By the way, a friend of mine called us the other day and he said 'I'd like to contribute any shortfall you have because of the Democrat shutdown. I'd like to contribute any shortfall you have with the military.' Today, he sent us a check for $130 million. It's gonna go the military."

ICE now has a larger budget than most of the world’s militaries.

A reminder that police have only ever *responded* to alleged crime, but a living wage, food & water security, & accessible healthcare have always *prevented* crime.

So if you want safer communities, invest in people—not punishments.

I see 40-50 kids everyday with lunches in their hands

cause our library provided them for free all summer.
We had out snack bags to everyone of all ages, all year.

People in this county are less hungry because of the public library
Because everyone deserves a shot 🎯

Today is the 4th of July, and if you are like us, the vibe is 😑. Totally valid. Many people are not celebrating today. Again, totally valid. However, do not rob yourself of joy because that’s what they want. They want you defeated and disconnected.

Congress and the courts won’t save us. We are the only ones who can save us. Our next national effort is to train 1 million people in the strategic logic and practice of non-cooperation, as well as the basics of community organizing and campaign design. This is how we stop an authoritarian takeover.

Republicans have given up on governing for the American people and are all-in on serving their wealthy masters. That’s why we’re focused on training one million Americans — this is how we move forward as a movement in the face of Trump’s GOP that does not care about rules, laws, or the courts.

Agree with all of this. Dems did good in the Senate. Republicans are scared and trying to push this through before public opposition builds. Now's the time make some noise if you've got a GOP rep - let them know you and their constituents are watching closely.
Here’s what just happened in the Senate on the Big Brutal Bill.

And here’s what’s next.

This thread is it in a nutshell.

We’ve exhausted all the “doing it the right way” options. Every time they screwed us, moved the goalposts, changed the rules.

Enough is enough. The social contract has been broken. They have resigned our world to oblivion.

We only survive if we fight.
I think that the failures of the millennial generation's attempts to change this system were necessary in some ways because we're often roundly mocked for losing over and over, but we played by the rules and did everything we were told. Every time we looked like we were winning, the rules changed.

Everyone has something they can contribute to the fight to keep our humanity, no matter how small. It all counts. I know it feels overwhelming, and it is. And it's okay to feel overwhelmed—you're human. But we can't let the atrocities harden our hearts. Empathy is your superpower. Embrace it.

This is oligarchy. This is obscene.

While 60% live paycheck to paycheck & kids go hungry, Jeff Bezos, worth $230 billion, goes to Venice on his $500 million yacht for a $20 million wedding & spends $5 million on a ring while his real tax rate is just 1.1%.

End this oligarchy.

ChatGPT users brain activity declined over time, relied on copy-paste, and couldn’t recall what they wrote.
