A random youtube video just reminded me of a pair of genuinely great freeware gems - Vacant Ark and Iwanaga, a pair of very Treasure-inspired experimental freeware shmups from a developer known only as Buster who just kinda disappeared from the scene.

They are both very cool and hold up great today

I decided to revisit this one as recently I found a way to make the game scale at any aspect ratio and resolutions without making the HUD small, it's now updated.

I haven't posted this here yet, but I also made a repack of the game Mortyr, a forgotten Polish FPS from 1999. It's working on modern systems with widescreen patches and CD music included. I just uploaded it on the Internet Archive:

"I made a catalogue for you guys!"

Classy PS1 eye candy from 1999 with the cover of this gorgeous Japanese brochure for PlayStation periphs.

I tend to associate the PocketStation with the PSOne as the design matches so well, but it was released a year and a half before the PSOne appeared.

Phalanx! Y'know, the game with the old guy playing a banjo for the cover of the Super Nintendo release.

Here with the Sharp X68000 (🥵) version, there's some hella intricate classic sci-fi artwork.

The specs for the miggy of 95? 030 processor, 2MB of RAM, AGA, and PCMCIA and IDE.

This is a Snow Bros repro i got on etsy years ago. Just a chip glued to a cheap board. I got it to play once, and the chip fell off.. Garbage.

This def would have fried my system. Later, I bought a repro that was an official sega game now with an SB eprom on it. Just be careful buying repro carts.

The Game Genie is here!

Didn't have one of these back then (nor Action Replay) but it's neat being able to punch the codes these days into our X5 Everdrive.

Raiden-ing out onto your feeds: some Japanese PC eye candy. The FM Towns has such an interesting design with its narrow tower and CD drive - reportedly the first computer to come with one as standard.

I’m not saying that Batman Returns had the best cups that McDonald’s has ever offered (...although I'd entertain that argument), but the FRISBEE BATDISCS are inarguably the greatest drink lids of all time. (1992)

Remember the game Kiss: Psycho Circus? That FPS featuring the Kiss band running on the Lithtech Engine

I've made a repack of the full game with fixes to run it on modern PCs, just install and it's ready to play, no extra tinkering required:
