I post about things I'm reading, things I'm watching, things I am writing about, or things I am thinking of writing about.

Is this the part where I say hello?
I don't fit into a box, but I'll tell ya what I like:
Jesus, comics, speculative fiction, philosophy, D&D, podcasts, cryptids, writing, reading, coffee.

There's more, but to find that out, ya gotta tag along.
@elizadearnley.bsky.social I picked up your Fearsome Fairies last summer and am just getting to it. Finished the intro last night. I love the connections you make to monster theory (a subject I wrote my thesis on.) Looking forward to reading! Thanks!

Am I a good DM?

Well, my players are losing their ever lovin' minds because of some recent reveals...

So, yeah?

I find myself asking the same question these days...

On an unrelated note:

I first thought this was Murphy Brown.
The US Strategic Bitcoin Reserve will buy Bitcoin and, when Bitcoin prices start to get too high, will sell Bitcoin into the market to ensure that Bitcoin prices always remain low, ensuring access to all.
Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) proposed a bill to create US Natl “strategic bitcoin reserve” [not to be confused w strategic oil reserves at center of Teapot Dome scandal]. Lummis (Tea Party, MAGA) is one of wealthiest senators, the first known to buy crypto. Piece o work rollcall.com/2022/02/15/c...

One thing I'm learning by reading Charles Fort: He seems to have a disdain for chemistry.

I'm reading about the "red rain" section. He points out that we should not discount portions of a thing just because other portions of the thing have more plausibility.

So, I'm still on this Fortean kick. His writing is...a little hard to follow. But I get the gist.

Am reading the part where he questions Krakatoa as the cause of the celestial phenomena observed in the late 1800s.

@forteantimes.bsky.social I just started the complete works of Charles Fort. Any advice?

If, by some insane happenstance, Trump is allowed to run for a third term, I advocate for President Obama to throw his hat into the ring.

On one hand, Republicans might quickly back away from the idea.

On the other hand, I'd love to have Obama in the WH again.
NEW: Citing President-elect Donald Trump's Nov. 13 comments suggesting he may need House Republicans' help to bypass the Constitution's two-term limit for presidents and run for a third term, Democratic Rep. Dan Goldman of New York has introduced this resolution

How many cups of coffee should it take to get through an academic article?

How about none?

If you lighten the burden on the reader, they won't be falling asleep.

One easy way to lighten the burden is to reduce the number of zombie nouns in your writing.

Zombie Nouns | ReallyWrite
Zombie nouns (or nominalisations) are unnecessarily long, heavy nouns that would work better as verbs or adjectives.

Dear #AcademicSky

If I finished my M.A. in English (but not currently pursuing a PhD.), and I am only an adjunct at a community college, can I still have a seat at the table?
