Sex work is 1000% more honorable and socially beneficial than working as an ICE agent.

Writers should never modify their own prose as a reaction to what stupid fucking generative AI is doing -- that shit stole from us, and it stole poorly, incompletely, and has none of our magic and zero of our humanity, our experience, our wonder and fear, and it never ever will. Fuck AI. You do you.

"ChatGPT is great for brainstorming!"

Actually we have a tool for that already! It's called thinking. We use our brain. It's called brainstorming! Clue is in the name.

The difference between the Liberals and Conservatives is, essentially, the Liberals smile at us while they do harm to Indigenous Peoples.
As @terrilltf.bsky.social reminds, the Chrétien/Martin budget imposed the 2% cap on all Indigenous spending which warped a lot (from education to health to social spending) for First Nations communities in Canada.

And now this, which is way worse. Liberals are amazing colonizers.
Indigenous services will be hit hard. A stunning $4.5 bil in cuts, 1 of 5 dollars in cuts is just reduced transfers to First Nations to provide police, ed and health care. Gutting Indigenous social programs is not an "ambitions" way to find "savings". 3/x

As we watch Trump's attack on universities, remember that Poilievre promises to appoint a "Free Speech Guardian" for universities.
A university could lose its federal funding if this politically appointed "guardian" recommends it.

The Egyptian pro-democracy activist Wael Ghonim said,

"The power of the people is greater than the people in power."

This is a checklist of things you can do, probably should do, resources, ideas, ways to move forward.

“I just don’t know what to do!!” shouldn’t be something you say now.

If you think it’ll stop at Columbia and Harvard, you’re wrong. If you think it won’t go beyond universities to infiltrate all schools, you’re wrong. If you think it won’t demand compliance at media, medical, and non-profit organizations, you’re wrong. Fascism is here. Fight it.

There’s a great interview with Nick Park about Wallace And Gromit in last month’s Empire, and this bit in particular stood out. It sums up what artists have been trying to say about AI. The mistakes and the learning aren’t things to be bypassed, but a vital part of the process 🤟

Just finished Love After the End: An Anthology of Two-Spirit & Indigiqueer Speculative Fiction edited by Joshua Whitehead. I LOVED it. The stories were all incredible, and special shout out to Abacus by Nathan Adler, which took my breath away! From our collection at Capilano University Library.
