'I'll sleep when I'm dead' is a short poem which attempts to crystalise some of my childhood memories, and sepcifically of my chilldhood garden, into something tangible - like a little diorama. #poetry #blutoid #books

My wife and I have played through The Adventures of Robin Hood table top game. It’s quite simple but good fun. The board acts almost like an advent calendar with pieces flipping and being removed. We’ve finished the campaign (the 2nd loop of) and are now ready for the expansion 🏹 #blutoid #SirRobin!

Christmas miracle - guy called trap15 just began working on a translation for Busin 0 for PS2, arguably the coolest Japanese Wizardry ever.

Said not to expect anything for at least a year, but it's exciting news nonetheless!

Detective Instinct is a fun ADV game so far. I love the character art & the 3D multimedia backgrounds are lush. I’m happy with the grounded, relaxed mystery vibe too; lots to ‘discuss’ and ‘inspect’ 🕵️ Finally, worth mentioning the setting - Central Europe train mystery! Very Christie #blutoid #adv

Used some money I made on an ‘unnamed auction site’ to buy myself some early Christmas pressies 🥳 #blutoid

I recently read Emily Dickinson for the first time in my life - probably a decade or so too late. I’ve been amazed by her sense humour alongside the more well known morbid element in her poetry, and the sense of youthful longing for the wide world. Really arresting! Listen:

Played a fun card game with my wife last night called Forest Shuffle. It’s all about planting trees and then attaching animals, plants, fungi to them in order to build a forest ecosystem. Really fun and easy but with quite a bit of synergy planning 🌳 #blutoid #boardgames

Watched the Jungle Book with my children this weekend and was taken by the backgrounds. They’re giving me Etrian Odyssey vibes ;) #blutoid

A game box with artwork as beautiful and fantastical as what you see in the game itself: Ishar 2: Messengers of Doom.

Some of the most enigmatic euro-RPGs of the era.

I thought it was a shame that Falcom never did a proper "fanservice" Ys game where you get to return to Esteria, but it turns out that Ys IV: Dawn of Ys is that exact game!

They cap off the Turbografx "trilogy" so well and it just left me so warm and fuzzy. Props to the fandubbers too.

Speaking of art, here's ultra rare Capcom concept artwork for when Strider Hiryu was going to be a Sea Otter🤯

100% true & definitely not 1990 fan art mixing Strider Hiryu with manga character Bonobono😉

What also sets this version apart from the others at the time is a map function! It's not automapping, tho. We needed to find the map for this level first.

The Mega CD version, which I'm currently delving into to solve a mystery, is a sweet version. With both Mega Mouse support and some well-thought-out hotspot controls for joypad, it's very playable.

The makes special mention of Yuzo Koshiro's involvement on the soundtrack.

As I draw ever nearer the Yggdrasil Tree, and my time with Etrian Odyssey IV reaches its conclusion, I know I’m going to miss playing this game so much. I think I have one last Stratum to go. I’m sure that’s another 10/15 hours or so lol🤞It’s been a great game! #blutoid

One of the subjects I’m teaching this year is Shakleton’s third voyage to the South Pole. It’s such an astonishing story of survival - honestly it’s such a good topic to teach children! One of the aspects of the story which I really enjoy are the maps (of course) which go with it :D

Currently reading Dragons of Autumn Twilight. It’s alright so far, though not as immediately gripping as Salvatore’s Icewind Dale books (which I recently-ish finished, and enjoyed quite a lot). I’m quite interested in the concept of evil dragon men though lol #blutoid #d&d

Spent a quiet Friday evening playing a few Famicom games: Fire Emblem (good fun! pegasus died on first map lol), and some random Japanese adv games I must've downloaded at some point...The Pea Cock King (lol) and this extremely stylish adventure, Ankoku Shinwa: Yamato Takeru Densetsu (looks fun!) :D

In regards to Golden Axe III, it feels really different to the first two games. It’s way easier and much more forgiving for a start. There’re branching paths which is fun, and more moves you can pull off. But no dwarf! Gilius Thunderhead is the best character! Pah! A foolish decision. 🪓 #blutoid

My youngest son is in full tantrum fever mode. He'll literally tantrum about anything. It's like he WANTS to tantrum and he seeks out the littlest thing to have a wobbly over. It's barely a liveable situation. Anyway, it'll pass... Playing some Golden Axe 3 to let off steam. First time playing it

This month the Xbox 360 turned 20! I loved my 360 so much. Played some great games on it; Oblivion, Bioshock 1&2, Fallout 3 & NV, and of course Dark Souls! It’s one of the most immersive games I’ve ever played. While it’s all quite familiar now, it felt so obscure and impenetrable at the time!

I learned today about gall wasps, an insect I had no idea about. I have definitely seen these galls before but assumed they were seeds I guess 🤷‍♂️ (picture from the rhs site)
