An endemic problem with American capitalism is how the vast majority of large investors and C-suite managers are incapable of envisioning any business model other than "I have an unregulated monopoly with low labor costs." When these plans fail, they have no idea what to do but cut labor costs more.

Back of the envelope estimate shows this could be entirely explained by women entering the workforce and firms just pocketing the 30% wage difference due to sexism.
