it bugs me more than it should that the NFL, an entity enthralled with the almighty dollar and MORE MORE MORE, continues to refuse to sell jerseys with POCKETS-- worn on the field by star players like Lamar Jackson! and Josh Allen! -- to us plebes who have been begging them to do so for years

it's not important. that's the answer. it is very very very rarely true, but it's not important.
Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.

There's a weird collective self-justification among reporters on this beat that their job is not to push back but to be stoic in order to observe an endlessly fascinating natural phenomenon. It's all nonsense. He is a public servant. Demand decency, and slap back hard and fast when you don't get it.
