It's wild that all my colleagues who are funded by a deep sea mining company to research the topic ultimately conclude that we shouldn't mine the deep sea.

We should stop seeing the ocean as a place to exploit instead of a place of wonder and beauty and an essential part of our life support system.

After sending over 400 ICE agents to Denver and Aurora, CO, and knocking on hundreds of Americans' doors, ICE made only one arrest. Now, Trump has removed the Acting ICE Director, Caleb Vitello. (WaPo)

Given that whales have been around far longer than humans it might be more accurate to say that human languages have patterns that resemble humpback whale songs.

Humpback whale songs have patterns that resemble human language
The sounds that make up humpback whale songs follow some of the same statistical rules seen in human languages, which may be because of how they are learned

Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.
