Gavin Newsom has the exact appearance and energy of the mayor in an 80s crime film who winds up at the end of the movie saying “Good detective work, Sergeant Bolan … too good” and then pulling a pistol. This is also who he actually is down to his bones.

Tell me you're redlining without telling me you're redlining
The US DOT says it's planning to prioritize areas with high marriage & high birth rates for funding.

Our new analysis @urbaninstitute.bsky.social shows this would disproportionately fund:
—Communities with a higher white resident share
—Low-density areas
—High-income areas
—Car-dependent areas
DOT’s Plan to Distribute Funding by Birth and Marriage Rates Would Leave Communities Most In Need Behind
If enacted, the new US Department of Transportation memo would prioritize funding to whiter, higher-income, more car-dependent areas over communities of color and people who walk, bike, or take public...

Weird how not a single one of the newspapers and magazines that have been breathlessly churning out "cancel culture" thinkpieces for the past four years have managed to use the word "censorship" at all to describe the most rapid and comprehensive campaign of mass-censorship in recent US history.

And once he complies they should issue the exact same ultimatum about something else. They need to treat his presidency as illegitimate, which is what it is.
Here's something Dems can consider doing right now: Band together and tell Trump and the GOP that they will not get *a single vote* for any legislation or nominee until he ends Elon Musk's illegal mission to gut our government.

This is ALSO a reminder to ME, Emily St. James. Some things will be awful, and some things will be okay, and we all gotta find a way through this life together.

Also, Conclave is a lot of fun, but I don't know if it was "Watch it two times!" levels of fun for me.
A periodic reminder that while best-case scenarios rarely happen, so do worst-case scenarios. We will likely continue to spiral along a "closer to worst-case than best-case" path, but your doom is not inevitable.

LOVE YOU. WATCHING CONCLAVE NOW.

i think an important thing for people outside the US to understand is that elon musk seized control of the government today and most americans don’t even realize it happened.

That hits the right tone, finally
Murphy: "I just want the president to be held accountable for the fact that all of our federal agencies right now are a mess. Every day we are receiving calls from employees at our federal agencies, including the ones that protect us, saying that everybody is in crisis."

Do Not Comply In Advance: bossy, already a cliche, implies permission to comply later

Fuck You, Make Me: leads by example, directs yelling at opposition instead of allies, easy to chant at a protest or put on a banner

This tweet sent out 14 hours BEFORE the crash needs to be immortalized in stone.

Or on a plaque in every ATC tower.

Or on a disclaimer before every Mayday: Air Disaster episode.

Or on an Amber Alert type system to every American.

Or on a stamp.

Or maybe currency.

Something.

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent.

Opportunities are everywhere.

Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉
