🚻 How many of NYC’s public restrooms are available, clean, and have basic amenities?

A Council investigation of 172 restroom locations citywide uncovered major gaps across public restrooms in parks, libraries, and privately-owned public spaces.

I think about this all the time. If public health is doing a good job, nobody notices anything happening
The thing that is most devastating to me about the ongoing evisceration of the public health infrastructure in the U.S right is how little awareness of what's going on the majority of people in the general public have and the impact this will have on their health and safety.

We have the opportunity to decide anew how we allocate public space. Congestion pricing has reduced traffic in Manhattan, and shattered the illusion that we must prioritize cars in our city. It's time for car-free busways & streets that prioritize people.
Brad Lander: “34th Street and 42nd Street should have the same treatment 14th Street does. We should pedestrianize large parts of lower Manhattan.”
