Having gratefully spent some of my life in theatre, my favorite film of the year is Blue Moon. It reveals the stakes of the art–especially the heartbreak that can come for even the most gifted. Ethan Hawke's performance is relatable in its intensity. It's an Oscar-worthy turn, IMHO.

How to: Get to Know Android Privacy and Security Settings
Open up your Android phone’s Settings app and you’ll find dozens of different options with little guidance on what those options do. DOJ broke the law today by refusing to produce all the Epstein files. It also broke the law by redacting information other than to protect victims. Yet, the corporate media is acting that DOJ did us a huge favor.

Reiner on Trump

RIP to the wonderful Rob Reiner. He had so many accomplishments in so many different areas. Personally, I was comforted by his voice on social media related to our current political situation. A truly great person.
A Few Good Men. Best in Show. A Mighty Wind. Miss Congeniality. Barcelona. All three movies in Linklater's "Before" trilogy. Music & Lyrics. Michael Clayton. All films that were able to be made because of the production company Reiner co-founded in order to give talented filmmakers creative freedom.
without Rob Reiner’s Castle Rock production company we wouldn’t have:

City Slickers, Honeymoon in Vegas, In the Line of Fire, The Shawshank Redemption, Before Sunrise, Dolores Claiborne, Lone Star, Waiting for Guffman, and more - in a six-year period alone

If SCOTUS lawlessly overturns birthright citizenship, and the country wants it back it will have to pass a Constitutional Amendment and that Amendment would say the exact same thing the 14th Amendment says.

A hopeful sign. These people can be beaten. Trump can be stopped. If he were all-powerful, Habba wouldn’t be bowing to reality.

After pressure from the Justice Department, Apple pulled apps from its App Store that encourage reporting ICE activity. Google followed suit by pulling similar apps from its Play Store.

The government shouldn't be choosing what apps we can download, and neither should tech companies.

Socialism is what they called public power.

Socialism is what they called social security.

Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.

Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.

I mean this is so far pretty close to a 10 out of 10 night for Democrats. Winning everywhere! Statewide in PA and GA, huge margin in VA gov race. Sherrill tracking double digits as well! Mamdani above 50% in a the highest turnout in NYC since 1969. Big pick ups in VA House of Delegates.

Also, L.A. has had a really rough year, with the fire hurricane and Trump's thugs marauding through the streets every day. A little good news for us is welcome.

We're going to pass prop 50 on Tuesday too.
I'm a Dodger fan and can't help but be thrilled that they won. But those Blue Jays were something else and deserve all the kudos. As one wag said on BSky when they beat the Yankees "Any team that beats the Yankees is America's team.If that's the Toronto Blue Jays, so be it. I don't make the rules."

This also demonstrates the risk inherent in letting a President raise and then spend money from the private sector, rather than relying on money appropriated by Congress:
