GenX Advice for privacy enhancement.

Turn phone off when not in use.

Plug in a maps/apps/rideshare a place nearby that isn't your actual destination. 🚶🏼‍♀️ the difference.

Use DuckDuckGo or more privacy oriented searches (not just incognito) to figure a route out then memorize it or put it on paper.

this regime can't even take criticism from a "both sides" moderate country musician

It really is insane that working for ICE is a job people choose to have.

Like people legit wake up, and get ready to go to work at the Kidnapping Industrial Complex like it ain’t nothing.

If someone blocked a person you should respect their boundary. 😤
bkwrmgal.bsky.social
If only it wasn't illegal in most local cities and I didn't have to worry about losing my ability to sell to schools I would. But for those who can, good idea.
bkwrmgal.bsky.social
Oh yeah I've tried! LORD I really have.

But I'm also 52 & slightly disabled, trying to manage getting a business off the ground while moving half my stuff overseas with half the juice I had 5 years ago. Sometimes you just got to take the L. 😒

If you still got it, you go for it though, 🙏🏼 for you.

With the right early childhood education based techniques you absolutely can politely, without physical touch, get a child to be quieter. If the parents don't know how you show them. It's not 100% but it's in the 80's & like OP pointed out use noise cancelling 🎧 for the rest.

My guy context matters. An adult is old enough to know better.

You cannot compare a grown adult to a child who is still learning how to interact with the world.

Only way for kids to not potentially become asshole adults is if they are allowed to be fully in said world.

Counter: If I were to start screaming on a long life, I suspect no one would suggest that the other passengers should wear headphones to drown me out. Im certain my behavior would be considered inappropriate for the setting.

So I guess the answer to your question is at least when it comes to millennial friends that I met while obtaining my third batch of qualifications ... No, they don't go to others houses once they have kids.
bkwrmgal.bsky.social
I'd also note Millennial friends who used to come over before they had kids don't want to come over now that they do. I'm GenX and don't know why (I've asked they don't answer it) but after inviting people over over a hundred times I'd rather cut it down to the GenX+Z less than an hour who might.
bkwrmgal.bsky.social
Anyways I'm not going to hate on people because I only see them irl every few years (or not at all) because they're now over an hour away to afford having kids. I'm also not going to move out of the city then need to drive everywhere & increase my anxiety triggers either. Sometimes you just lose 😔
bkwrmgal.bsky.social
Yes, but also it depends.

In my area in order to get the space for kids generally requires a move to a suburb or even ex-urb which is quite the drive (can be over an hour each way). Therefore meeting in the middle someplace is the on fair option.

Thus you end up seeing them less & less over time

Rebuttal - you're going to ban ALL children because of the few parents who don't know how to teach their kids manners? sounds like ageism to me.

Related - the Western idea that parents + teachers are only allowed to discipline a child is ridiculous, it takes a village, YOU are part of it too.

Someone in a YouTube video I watched stated that kids shouldn’t be allowed on planes and I just want to remind folks that we live a shared society and that the world doesn’t revolve around you
bkwrmgal.bsky.social
There are a few breweries with food that allow kids before {X}pm, but there are not many and times vary by place.

In most other countries it's any place with food but without "adult entertainment" + a government mandated timeframe. It really helps when the times are standardized too.
bkwrmgal.bsky.social
I've lost friendships because unlike everywhere else in the world there aren't enough third spaces for people with kids to go eat/drink with their kid less friends. Where do parents go to drink with the kids, Applebees 🤔

(I'm half joking but also legit have no clue).
bkwrmgal.bsky.social
That's very 1980's of you.

Now this attitude has infected even family on my Asian, European, and African sides that used to be exceedingly frugal. Quite sad about it 😔.

The irony of me, an American telling them to shop less not lost on me.

This UN Campaign is much needed at this point in time.
bkwrmgal.bsky.social
It's actually shocking how many people under ~48y.o. don't know how to care for clothing so it lasts longer. This skill hasn't been lost amongst my Asian side, but on my white side 😔. The knowledge loss on the American side especially 😔 considering how great a seamstress Great Grandma C was.

People are buying more clothes, but they don’t stay in closets for long. This fuels overproduction and waste.

An easy fix? Wear them longer. The planet will thank you!

Not a 'privacy hack' perse but bring a meal bar & some form of dried protein in case you get stuck. Also a few days of whatever crucial+emergency meds.

Ok, thank you for coming to my TED talk. 🖖🏼

Memorize or write down & store in a secure place the numbers of your three closest contacts.👮🏽‍♂️ is unlikely to take your underwear so as weird as it sounds bra stuffing a small paper or writing on jocks like mum - viable.

Consider a 🔫 proof shield in your 🎒 or 👜.

Lighters & Matches have many uses.

Have 🛒shopping buddies who buy different foods than you. Buy their cart, or at least some items of same/close price then trade things back and whomever owes more pay the difference in cash so they can't track all your purchasing habits. Best in a 3 or more group.

If you can use a paper map ...

Buy a "family account" with friends/family in a close geo location, then use it under the Guest login so all your viewing habits are mixed together.

Buy things in cash you don't want your bank to know about.

Shop thrift (lots of Z'eds do this) but also try the ethnic markets not your ethnicity.

Kristi Noem, while governor of South Dakota, supplemented her roughly $130,000 salary by secretly accepting $80,000 donated to a political nonprofit she was affiliated with, records show.

She never disclosed this income on federal ethics forms.
