If you’re looking for a free way to support an author, did you know you can ask your library to stock a book you want to read that they don’t have yet? And usually it’s a very basic online form? Google your library name plus the words “request a title” or “suggest a title” to find yours.

In 2023, our team created an interactive guide to rights the Supreme Court has established — and could take away.

Most rights are based in statute, but rights to same-sex marriage, search warrants and Miranda warnings are based on judicial rulings that the Supreme Court can overturn. ⤵️

If you are in Oklahoma or know others that are with school age children, please pass this along to them. Defense of Democracy created opt-out forms for Ryan Walter’s forced bible instruction. Let’s keep getting in good trouble!

Word of the day is ‘librocubicularist’: one who loves nothing better than reading in bed.

(Not easy to say, but I’m glad to know it exists).

There’s discourse about how children don’t read as much anymore and while it’s just one piece it’s important to consider that children need to see their caregivers read and prioritize reading to them at home to build that habit. Reading needs to be built into daily routines.

A repeat thought, Bluesky, & a Librarian told you this so it must be true 🤣

Audiobooks definitely count as reading (as well as listening). If you've played through an audioook, its perfectly fine to describe that as "I have read [x]"

All other forms of assistive software count as reading too 💙📚

Public Libraries can be wonderful places where children and adults can find books that they can see themselves reflected in, no matter who they are, and books that can introduce them to entire other lived experiences. Both are so valuable!

I feel mislead by all dystopian literature. It's supposed to be a powerful authoritarian government that lords over a cowering population, and and we just need need a few brave acts of heroism to give the people the courage to rise up.

Instead it's just half the country being dumb and mean.
