Surveillance cameras are no longer just recording our comings and goings — they're using AI to decide whether we should be reported to law enforcement.

An algorithm can't be trusted to determine who is a threat.

AI deconstructs experiences to data points, and uses these data points to project an interpretation of a behavior or narrative.

A Google search brings to to a web page that is a source which the person looking for info can evaluate, albeit ranked by an algorithm. A query of a generative AI tool gives you a stochastically generated mush of random words that fit a statistical pattern based on what is in its training data.

If you do not understand what your feature helps people accomplish:

- you cannot test if it is complete
- you cannot test if it is effective
- you cannot tell whether or not new additions are core to the objective or distractions
- you cannot defend against cuts that go too deep

ChatGPT doesn’t so much write as it puts together words in a way that has statistically shown to have meaning to people based on other human content in its training data. It approximates what a response *should* sound like.

Changing the nature of relationships between humans and their environment is the essence of design. Design shapes behavior. And when we change our relationships with our environmental systems, we transform ourselves in the process.

In all seriousness, this is why you can't actually teach yourself college and why you can't replace instructors with ChatGPT. Learning requires challenge from others in an environment that encourages growth. That has to be specific to the relationships among specific individuals in a specific group.
