if one journalist involved in this had been willing to do actual journalism RFK might really not have been confirmed.

I posted something similar earlier. Peaceful protesters have danced, wore funny costumes, made certain their protests are peaceful. Trump getting impatient to declare martial law, so orchestrates this shooting.

Wild how we have studies to show that hoarding wealth and being ultra rich literally poisons your brain, and we can observe how selfish behavior is treated in other species (literal shit like banishment, murder, coups) but in humans we have to remind others how dangerous it is for us to let happen

I'm going to share this classic from 2019.

It was created on that other site by a Wall Street Quant, and from what happened since, it looks to be incredibly accurate.

A sad irony in Washington, D.C., where West Virginia National Guardsmen were shot today. Six days ago, a court ruled their deployment was illegal, but stayed the order pending appeal. My heart goes out to these public servants and their families. oag.dc.gov/sites/defaul...

I'm going to say something that is going to sound brutal and cause a lot of people to unfollow or unfriend me.

They never should have deployed or obeyed illegal orders. I have no sympathy for them.

I avoid my email bc I get a lot of hate mail. My assistant is going through my inbox + organizing it for me. She just texted to say ONE dude has sent me 250+ hate emails this year and should she give him his own folder. 😫

How sad and scared and powerless these dudes must feel.

I found it too and my jaw is on the floor. If it’s true, how did he sit on it for a year (during which RFK Jr was confirmed at HHS)?

Very familiar in academia
nuzzi / lizza misconduct imo enabled the destruction of so much public health & scientific research — and a resurgence in measles in the US. this is not petty tabloid gossip or inside baseball. that they went undetected or were rewarded while great reporters were laid off? it’s a huge system failure

I hope that this doesn't just become about "Nuzzi is bad" but fosters a wider recognition that our culture of political journalism that didn't just tolerate her, but promoted and celebrated her even after the allegations were known, is rotten to the core and has been for a long time.
this was bad before, but these are the most troubling and serious allegations you can make about a journalist. if they’re true, i genuinely can’t think of a worse scandal in the history of political journalism. devastating to our industry, to public trust as a whole, and to everyone in its orbit

the invasion of Afghanistan is among the most horrific recent chapters of the long history of elite impunity in the US. this coda is grim but fitting - the govt practically explicitly affirming that it should only be Afghans who live with the consequences amid fading public memory of the atrocity
It didn’t even take 6 hours.

What I'm saying is that, even with the best intentions and no intended malice, this app (and others like it) don't usually lead to efficient or productive conversation.

Simply because we're adding to seemingly joint discourses while in reality very few people have the same baseline.

What fucking workload?

When was the last time a Republican successfully introduced, negotiated for, and advanced viable policy? When was the last time a Republican lawyer belonging to a government designed by and built for lawyers tried to write needed legislation for the good of the 99 percent?

When Democrats propose a bill limiting the President’s power to deploy National Guard troops on US soil they should name the act after the guardsmen who tragically lost their lives today because of Trump’s capricious decision to deploy them to DC for no good reason.

National Guard soldiers didn't sign up to be deployed as local police indefinitely as part of someone else's political stunt.

They're not set up to be local police, they never should have been deployed.
