An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

The Charlie Kirk situation has, if anything, been a lightning rod for an issue I think is plaguing our society and is fueled by the online content machine. Algorithms promote grifting, validate hate, and most of all, keep people addicted to it. Real lives are subsumed by online existences. 1/

I hate to be that guy (not really) but I hope that Uma Musume's popularity doesn't end up whitewashing actual horse racing. It's a really cruel and barbaric "sport" where horses are run far younger than they should be (resulting in broken legs and death) and are hopped up on all kinds of steroids.
