The destructive nature of the current feudalized version of capitalism needs to be talked about more on social media.
"The 1% who rule the world may have turned
the pursuit of money and power into a kind of
pathological game that are ends in themselves, but
for the rest of us, having money, having an income,
being free from debt, has come to mean having the
power to pursue something other than money.

We all want to ensure our loved ones are safe, and
taken care of. We all want to live in healthy and
beautiful communities but beyond that, the things
we wish to pursue are likely to be wildly different.
What if freedom were the ability to make up our
minds about what it was we wished to pursue, with
whom we wished to pursue it, and what sort of
commitments we wish to make to them in the
process?"

.

This is simply untenable. There is no way forward with media and political classes captured by the right. Every time someone commits a crime you have to pray it's not an undesirable or it's purge time, then when it turns out to be themselves again they just shrug and wait for the next one.

Here’s a photo of my cat trying to catch a bubble. You’re welcome.
Orange Tabby cat, Greg, standing tall on his hind toe beans with front paws stretched straight in the air trying to catch a catnip bubble floating above his head.

My name, and yours, and the true name of the sun, or a spring of water, or an unborn child, all are syllables of the great word that is very slowly spoken by the shining of the stars. There is no other power. No other name.

Already untold thousands of creative geniuses--brilliant would-be musicians, writers, painters, filmmakers, you name it--are working as janitors, short-order cooks, agricultural workers, Amazon warehouse employees, etc., and that's the world THEY WANT! One with a class of poor, trapped workers.

I don’t know why this incenses me as much as it does, but it does:

we very likely have a thousand plus Mozarts *right now*. But they make non-Western art in economically destitute conditions so they have to do other work to pay bills; if you cared, UBI’d be more important to you than going to space
Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk say human population not nearly big enough: ‘If we had a trillion humans, we would have at any given time a thousand Mozarts’
“I think in a lot of these endeavors we're very like-minded,” Bezos said of himself and Musk regarding getting humans into space.

From David Graeber's 'Revolutions in Reverse' (2011).
Neo-liberal capitalism is that form that is utterly obsessed with ensuring that it seems that, as Margaret Thatcher so famously declared in the 1980s, “there is no alternative.”

In other words, neo-liberalism has largely given up on any serious effort to argue that the current economic order is actually a good order and given up trying to prove it can create a world in which most human beings feel prosperous, safe, and free to spend any significant portion of their life pursuing those things they consider genuinely important.

Rather, it is a terrible system, in which even the very richest countries cannot guarantee access to such basic needs as health and education to the majority of their citizens. Yes they say it works badly - but they want you to believe no other system could possibly work at all!

Racoon: what is this stuff?

Me: it’s our garbage

Racoon: it’s delicious, I understand why you chase me away from it, do you eat it?

Me: no we’re trying to get rid of it

Racoon: ok I guess I don’t fucking understand at all then
