“I’m sure you’re aware of our connections with the Trump Administration,” the North Carolina Republican Party's communications director wrote in an email response to us. “I would strongly suggest dropping this story.”

We didn't. #ICYMI, read the story that he wanted dropped:

WHO GIVES A DAMN?

It’s a public service, right there in the name. It exists as a public good for all the people in this country. It’s not supposed to turn a profit, you dolts.

Go audit the Pentagon and see what kind of return on investment we’re getting there.

The USPS faces a tight squeeze. With fewer people using the mail, it’s lost more and more money: $9 billion in the 12 months ending in September alone.

There are going to be prominent Democrats and mainstream media voices who insist that we have to "turn the page" and "forgive and forget" and they should all be roundly ignored, if not mercilessly mocked.
It’s crazy to think about the crimes we’re going to learn about after this regime ends.

We’re already hearing about Watergate level crimes every week. Imagine what will come out after it’s over.

We’re going to need a full accounting of all that’s been done in violation of the constitution.

This entire article points out that there is no plan. His own Treasury Secretary says he doesn’t know anything about it. So why does media keep running these kind of headlines? He keeps making these Truth Social posts and media keeps running stories as if it is something real.

The original Dem demands were:
1) Permanent ACA subsidies
2) Medicaid funding restored
3) No more blank checks for the regime (rescission)

They dropped Medicaid immediately. Went silent on rescission. Cut back to 1 year of subsidies on Friday. And surrendered today.

The Senate Democrats!

Medicare for All would save $450B a year.

Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity.

Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall.

It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford.

It’s about priorities.

What counts as “anti-fascist” is incredibly broad: basically opposition to much of the MAGA worldview - “anti-capitalism and anti-Christianity”

Labor Day would not exist without the workers who fought and died at the Haymarket Massacre and the Pullman Strike in Chicago.

It’s not a coincidence he’s targeting Chicago:

We've seen terrific pushback by Dem governors.

Pritzker is leading the way, but Walz and Moore have come out swinging too and even Hochul has found a bit of a spine. Other issues aside, Newsom's social media game is strong and showing results.

There's a popular model here for congressional Dems.
I just do not understand the general reaction to Trump by Democrats. Pritzker throws one punch and he's clearly freaked out. Standing up to bullies has been a thing for thousands of years for a reason. It works. And yet! Democrats remain in a defensive crouch.
