Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

This is overt racism. Full stop. There’s no ‘misinterpretation’ and no excuse. This is who he is, who he’s always been, and why he should never be anywhere near power again. And there’s a reason the tapes from The Apprentice have never been released.

I'd sooner trust a stoned monkey with a bag of hand grenades than this lot with the economy.
Amazing story in The Times. Reform UK failed to pay VAT to HMRC on its sales (tickets, merchandise). About £400k in all.

Not tax avoidance. Not tax evasion. They just didn't realise when you sell stuff you have to charge VAT.

I am pleased the Health Sec has listened to the concerns I raised. Now we need clear timelines, stronger communication & safe, compassionate care parents can trust.

What a lucky chap Nigel Farage is, to be sure. His partner, Mlle Ferrari, is extremely wealthy and allegedly paid for her £900,000 house in Clacton in cash. I hope she is enjoying living in Clacton, where, I am told, she is thinking of joining the WI.

Starmer ravages Farage:

"The honourable member for Clacton is not here... he's flown to America to badmouth and talkdown our country. And worse than that... he's gone there to lobby the Americans to impose sanctions. You cannot get more unpatriotic than that. It's a disgrace."
