Evil robot from the future. Probably. (Pronouns: Any)
I remember watching "the Man Show" many years ago and really enjoying it. I thought it was a hilarious satire. Looking at where the hosts ended up, I get the impression that only one of them actually realized/meant it to be a satire.

A reminder that this anti-trans panic is 100% bullshit and exactly none of our country’s problems are related to someone expressing their gender identity and everyone who isn’t a hate-filled weirdo knows it.

I have mixed feelings about the Bechdel test, because while it was a joke, it can be helpful. It shouldn't be that hard to include multiple female characters and to give them a role that doesn't revolve around male characters. But as usual, internet folk overuse it to meaninglessness.

I read this thread for the puns. I was not disappointed.
I can’t believe Zohran is transing the trains already

I do wish that older folks would stop acting like it's some great crime that a younger person doesn't recognize a famous person from what we consider a "classic". Surprise! Younger people have different experiences than older people! Sometimes they even like DIFFERENT THINGS!

i'm still appalled people were making fun of her for this instead of being thoroughly charmed by what it says about the insanely cool and lengthy career wallace shawn has had

Tonight was a huge win for democracy & a major blow to Trump's authoritarian rule

Voters chose Dem govs in VA & NJ, kept a Dem majority on PA’s top court, rejected an anti-voting measure in ME, chose an anti-Trump NYC mayor & are set to back fair maps in CA. Pro-democracy sweep.

I've seen the argument that we're too fixated on a single mayorial race, when there are a lot of important gubernatorial races going on. I sympathize to some extent, but that ignores that the reason we're so fixated on Mamdani is how his race exemplifies the flaws in our party leadership.

From the perspective of a "vote blue no matter who" voter, it's really fucking hard to defend my own stance when the Democratic leadership doesn't seem to practice what it preaches.

This is worse than the worst thing ever attributed to any “Bernie Bro”. The Democratic leader literally refusing to say WHETHER HE VOTED FOR THE DEMOCRAT.
this shit right here is wrecker shit, as much as wrecker shit as any online leftist has done, if not more so. no wonder so many people are repulsed by anyone (rightly) saying 'vote blue no matter who', the most powerful elected Dem in the nation won't do it! it undermines the whole coalition! jfc

My favorite internet controversy is still that weird dress. It's a complete nothing issue but so fun to argue about. And fascinating too. I still would love to read a scientific explanation about it.

I think my favorite ARR job quests are the carpenter ones where you quickly realize that the carpenter guildmaster is completely unhinged about that one guard captain, who seems calm and sane, but then you realize "no, this shit is reciprocal. They're so unhinged they're a rotating door."

Oh, my other rant about TV Tropes, because I'm petty today, is that I hate how the "Wild Mass Guessing" pages don't differentiate legitimate theories from silly crossover bullshit.

I think one of my bigger problems with tv tropes was that the creator/contributor bias was very obvious in certain entries. If a character was disliked by the fandom, then you'd never see them mentioned in any sympathetic entry even if they were actually a prime example of the trope.

As a "vote blue no matter who" person, I'd just like to say that yes, I would most likely vote even a terrible Democrat over a Republican. But it's early enough to actually pick a GOOD Democrat. We can make this easier for ourselves and NOT commit to a terrible choice!

I wish more people remembered silly 90s sci-fi fandoms beside me. Someone out there must understand my secret love for Earth: Final Conflict parent reveal fanfiction, and my endless lament that not a single one of them features a scene where Sandoval asks "why are you white?"

Possibly unpopular opinion, but I'm actually pretty glad the Ben Solo movie idea got dropped. No disrespect to Adam Driver, but I find the character pretty tedious and I'd have been far more interested in seeing one of the others get the spotlight instead.

There was a cybertruck at a local grocery store yesterday. I guess the store was doing some sort of "show off your fancy car" thing with a roped off area, a live music performance from some dude with a guitar and so on. I have no idea why it was happening, tbh.

Krakoa was an interesting idea but went on way too long for something so disconnected to everything that came before.
What's an opinion about X-Men that'll get you sent to jail? Is Jean really interesting or really boring? Should Logan have stayed dead? Do you think a certain x-mens outfit is positively horrendous even though people seem to love it?

The Brood Saga is better than Dark Phoenix imo 🤷

Had a ring pop for the first time in years and immediately ruined it for myself with the realization that it's basically just a candy pacifier. I realize for many people that probably would improve the experience, but alas, not one of my kinks.

This is probably irrational but every time I see a WhatsApp commercial, I get more and more paranoid. About WhatsApp. "Even we can't see your messages." Um, okay, but what if you're lying? How exactly would I know? Do entrapment laws apply to Meta?

I find myself reminiscing about my first comic blog recently. I remember how hard I'd try to stay nice, reasonable and diplomatic whenever I'd find myself in a disagreement - no matter how bizarre or antagonistic their take was. I always thought maybe I could persuade them - or an observer.

I really have to stop reading clickbait article titles. Wait, you mean this adaptation of a popular comic book has "six awkward parallels" to a prior adaptation of the same popular comic book? I'm completely shocked by this! Exactly how many times have we seen Batman's origin story again?

Just saw a WeightWatchers commercial mention "access to prescription weight loss medications" and I'm weirded out. I've never put much stock in those diet programs, but I still remember when Ozempic was supposed to be for diabetics. When did weight loss drugs become so ubiquitous?
