New policy: people who come into my mentions to scold me for how I engage with bad-faith users are getting blocked. Y’all clearly are looking for a different online experience than the one I provide, so I’ll just help you along to it.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

Seriously, watch this. Descriptions won’t do it justice. There’s no technical difficulty.

The amazing pause here from Miller is him realizing he said the quiet part out loud (probably a few months early) and then freezing like a possum in the face of a coyote or something as a defensive measure.

Not Stephen Miller accidentally outting the regime in an interview. Let that "plenary authority" claim slip right out and then had to act like the audio cut out.

Sir! We heard you.. and the President does NOT have plenary authority.

the data covered by the privacy policy, at least going by the bit at the top of the page, seems to be only data *about* the users -- like the users of the hive AI service, not the subjects of the analysis. But I haven't read the whole thing in detail yet
kathryntewson.bsky.social
at the same time, the TOS seems to imply that they can only "distribute, display, transfer, perform and modify (create derivative works)" content submitted to their analysis services "for the purposes of providing the Services to Customer," which is good but I'd like it if genAI uses were *excluded*
kathryntewson.bsky.social
I'm reading this through and trying to sort it out. The privacy policy seems to largely be addressing personal information provided to the company and . . . doesn't seem to address information that is submitted to the service for the purpose of analysis at all
kathryntewson.bsky.social
wouldn't be the first time I had seen t&c that sounded a lot like they did things and then. . . didn't

yeah, i'm familiar with the problem type

Murray: "If House Republicans were here, I'd make sure they understood over 3/4 of the families on the exchanges actually live in R states. And I'd make sure they understand the 10 states where families will face biggest average premium increase hikes when the ACA credits expire are all R states."

OK, so this is going to be tough to hear, but it needs to be said.

Now that Trump has been enjoined from sending *any* NG to Oregon, ICE is going to go gangbusters in Oregon, dialing everything up to 1000%.

Because they need riots. They need someone punching an ICE officer.

DON'T TAKE THE BAIT.

I went to check and it had somehow gotten turned off, so I’m glad you mentioned it.

i love the domino effect of trans people asking the moderation team to take harassment of trans people seriously and instead decided to perma ban a black guy who was one of the earliest users here
rvbdrm.com
So… Łink’s account is permabanned from Bluesky’s appview, but also gets banned from:

WhiteWind
Skylight
Bluescreen
Flashes

Basically all ATproto apps/projects?

WHAT THE HELL IS THE POINT OF THIS PROJECT THEN?

people who are on medicaid and not working have nearly identical daily patterns to people who are not working. Note that caregiving is a sizable chunk of both "non-workers" time as well.

perhaps the biggest story TFPever ran was a catastrophically shoddy argument that George Floyd ackshully died of an overdose. When confronted with irrefutable evidence that the piece was simply wrong, Weiss didn’t take it down, she asked her critic, @radleybalko.bsky.social, to come on a podcast.

Honored to have been so... voluminously quoted in this evening's @lastweektonight.com, in the main story about presidential libraries.

Here's a post with many of my photos of the 13 in the federal system, taken during my 12 years of research for my book.
