Endosomal RFFL ubiquitin ligase regulates mitochondrial morphology by targeting mitofusin 2
Highlighted Article: The endosomal ubiquitin ligase RFFL associates with and primes mitochondria for PRKN recruitment, targets mitofusins for degradation and contributes to mitochondrial networks and ...

#GRASP55 isn't just structural—it helps lysosomal enzymes get where they’re going. New research shows that knocking out GRASP55 leads to immature β-hexosaminidase A (HEXA) being misrouted and secreted instead of reaching the lysosome. www.molbiolcell.org/doi/10.1091/... #ASCB #CellBiology #Lysosomes

ÅNGSTRÖM-RESOLUTION FLUORESCENCE MICROSCOPY.

Can we do structural biology with an optical microscope? Yes!

Check out how we resolved *single bases of DNA* and much more using fluorescence microscopy, out on 24.05.2023 in Nature! @natureportfolio.bsky.social

Ångström-resolution fluorescence microscopy - Nature
The authors introduce a single-molecule DNA-barcoding method, resolution enhancement by sequential imaging, that improves the resolution of fluorescence microscopy down to the Ångström scale using off...

Microscopy/live imaging people! Need your help 😅

I’ve only just recently started working with large time series files (1,000+ slices) and don’t know where to start when it comes to rendering and exporting them. What software(s) do you use?

Pure autofluorescence from the midband crystalline cones in a mantis shrimp eye. The fluorescence comes from mycosporine like amino acid pigments that absorb specific bands of UV light, thus tuning the UV sensitivity of the photoreceptors they focus light into. 🧪

Host cells take different kind of steps to fight infection. One such least understood intercellular structure is ALIS. Here Anushree et. al shows that ALIS indeed help in elimination of intracellular bacteria and also sequesters many anti-microbial peptides.

TLR-mediated aggresome-like induced structures comprise antimicrobial peptides and attenuate intracellular bacterial survival | Molecular Biology of the Cell
Immune cells employ diverse mechanisms for host defense. Macrophages, in response to TLR activation, assemble aggresome-like induced structures (ALIS). Our group has shown TLR4-signaling transcription...

Golgi is pretty interesting organelle. Its regulation by PTM like ubiquitination is also pretty cool. Here’s the recent paper from our lab, which shows involvement of endosome associated ubiquitin E3 ligase in maintaining Golgi architecture.
