Seeing the Bill Watterson originals full of pencil lines of stuff that didn’t work, scuffs the eraser didn’t pick up, white out galore and more was something I needed to see to remind myself that nothing is perfect the first go and tweaks need to be made and you’re allowed to try again.

Sample calculation of RedBubble's new fees effective September 1, 2025 for a Standard Tier account which will be charged a 50% fee of their earnings. For a small sticker with a base price of $3.27 at 50% markup: It will retail at $4.91, the markup will be $1.64. RedBubble will pocket $0.49 for the "excess markup" fee so the artist will receive $1.14 markup for selling a small sticker. You need to sell 35 units of this sticker priced at $4.91 to reach at least $40.06 worth of earnings from your markup. Then RedBubble will deduct 50% from your earnings as part of their new policy with Standard Tier accounts. You'll be left with $20.03 and only then you're finally eligible for payout. You could have earned $57.23 instead if these fee policies didn't exist. In this example, RedBubble has fleeced you around $37.20 before you could receive the minimum $20 payout.

Tl;dr: RedBubble updating fee structure for sales starting Sept 1st. Looks to be most standard accounts will get a "flat rate" 50% scoop off the top of their earnings

Just realized I haven’t seen anyone post the Tom Lehrer-2 Chainz letter yet today.
Lehrer's performance is sampled in the track "Dope Peddler" by U.S. rapper 2 Chainz on his 2012 album Based on a T.R.U. Story, (2) In 2013, Lehrer said he was "very proud" to have his 60-year-old song sampled. His response to the request to use the song was "As sole copyright owner of 'The Old Dope Peddler', I grant you motherfuckers permission to do this.
