As a refresher, Chuck Schumer and the @democrats.senate.gov gave up all leverage for promises of a future negotiations with Republicans that never materialized. Instead, Republicans then blew-up over the Summer everything the Democrats thought they had protected by caving in March.
American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.
