Announcer saying "Kershaw means so much to this organization" Fuck that. Speak for yourself. I've been a fan since the days of Fernando. Not only does Kershaw shit the bed when it matters most in the postseason he's a dick.

Everything is stupid and dangerous right now, *but* we have an opportunity to make a least one thing less stupid and dangerous.

Please submit a comment to the PDX city planners asking them to prevent any further expansion of liquid fuel storage at the CEI Hub and mandate a fuel drawdown.

Easy ninety second task to ask elected officials to stop expanding fossil fuel infrastructure in city limits, especially where it’s gonna liquify into the willamette river when the earthquake hits:

there’s a confusion in this conversation between the political, where Trump is truly a huge departure, and the social, where he is very much a continuation of a tradition that dates back to the founding.

One reason former Republicans have been better at opposing Trump than many progressives is because they correctly understand that the GOP’s descent into fascism represents a dramatic shift, and is therefore scarier, where the latter groups feel the need to argue it’s just a continuation of trend

Our responsibility as portlanders is to accuse our business class of being republicans. If they support the natl guard coming in, they’re republicans. If they thank Christine drazan at a homeless shelter meeting, they’re republicans
"If the Democrats had been delivering materially and emotionally for the public, there would not be a need for socialists in office," said Ms. Morillo, who was homeless for a time in college. "We would not see Zohran Mamdani succeed in New York."
In a city considered one of the most progressive in the country, the debate over just how far-left to be has amused some longtime residents.
"In Portland, our political spectrum is not Republican to Democrat," said Amy Ruiz, a local political consultant and lobbyist. "It's, 'Which shade of blue are you?'"

This article has a lot more important problems so I feel stupid saying this…but umm…the Mercury wrote and published the first major article about the DSA councilors back in June. Of course it isn’t the local reporting linked or mentioned here.

I believe you! I was told they start 10 minutes a day on chromebooks in Kindergarten, but maybe that's just some schools, or maybe it's a specialized program?

Yeah we opted out of PPS in part because they do daily laptop time starting in kindergarten. It is I guess a valuable life skill to be a computer person and also I do not want that for my kids yet

But the idea that there are places anymore where we have no obligation or responsibility to consider our stewardship, meaning no wild places left, I believe has passed and we chose to stay naive and grab at a lost innocence, possibly at our peril
