The walk back, it is real

Mike Johnson: "Federal workers, it's my understanding that the law is that they would be paid. There is some other legal analysis floating around. I haven't yet had time to dig in and read that."

It is gauche and unfair to point out that there’s zero firewall between this organization’s reporting and editorial departments. One does the anti-progressive bidding of the other, and we have to pretend it’s normal and doesn’t matter

The thing about a vote to overturn democracy is that it is fundamentally illegitimate. The moment the vote passes and democracy ends, the idea that voting confers legitimacy is repudiated, thereby robbing the vote of its legitimacy.

Didn't think that, in 2025 Year of Our Gritty, "opposition to Nazi Germany was bad, actually" would literally have a seat at the White House.

Jack Posobiec explicitly says that "Antifa" dates back to the Weimar Republic, explicitly acknowledging that this administration is opposed to those who resisted the arrival of Adolf Hitler in Power.
A screenshot of C-Span showing Jack Posobiec speaking during a panel on "Antifa."
What's the bottom left image please?
And Biden didn't sign the checks he sent out early in his term, if memory serves.
(first paragraph bad, response in second paragraph good)

that the entire republican party and the supreme court have enthusiastically gone along with this is a structural issue that also needs to be solved and we cannot simply return the pre-trump status quo, yes

That our current system was unable to prevent this is a sign it probably should not recover
Or, I guess, "the state police is doing exactly what I want already"
I am talking about this. I am open to other interpetations, including yours.

If you still know anyone who imagines that Pritzker or Johnson will order police under their command to arrest federal agents, you can send them this (1hr12min42sec timestamp). They are explicit that they will not and they view courts as only venue for enforcement.

Pritzker seems to be semi waving the white flag on that and acting like he doesn't control his state police. Hope he reconsiders.

twice a year the entire U.S. press becomes a marketing extension of a single billionaire-owned retailer, and nobody in any position of editorial power thinks it's weird or gross

You gotta stop having your state police help ICE.
Remind me how the DC budget fix works? Does it fully fix the entire FY25 issue? Or no.
These journalists think their job is just publishing GOP propaganda, genuinely embarrassing work.

even setting aside whatever it means for the vote on the release of the epstein files, we're at a very grim place if the republicans are straight up refusing to seat people democratically elected to congress

Today marks yet another day that Speaker Mike Johnson has denied Adelita Grijalva her right to govern.

She won her special election on Sept 23rd but has yet to be sworn in.

Why? Because she will become the 218th vote needed to discharge the release of the Epstein files.

Say her name.

Ah just $85,000 in public funds a week before she publicly announced her Delegate run! A total coincidence!

It would be interesting to know who she targeted these mailers to outside of Ward 2, among the 97,750 recipients…
