Joined with the mass influx, but for slightly different reasons. I left Xhitter many months ago when the anti-Semitism went public; joined after 11/5 in need of better communication lines.

Economic justice, science fiction, community, books.
Okay, that was today and I missed it. Next year, I want an invite in advance!
TOMORROW IS THE WINTER SOLSTICE AND Y'ALL KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS. It is time for the women (defined broadly) to hunt the Year King through the woods and tear him apart with their bare hands!

So I was getting off the BART train, wearing my Le Guin t-shirt about how capitalism’s power is no more permanent than the divine right of kings. And the Black man sitting across from me also got off. As he walked away, I could see that his beautiful purple sweatshirt …

Reminder: a 20 year old Black cosplayer recently committed suicide because of shit like this. She was just a kid.

If you come across any Black cosplayers sharing their work, please take a second to like and leave a positive comment. You never know how much that can help someone.
Cosplaying white characters? Are you under the impression Ami Mizuno or Rei Hino are white??

Usagi Tsukino. Very white.

Once upon a time, American soldiers handed out food to Germans because *they* had followed a fascist madman into national ruin.

How times change.
NEW: The US Army website for its bases in Bavaria, Germany told its soldiers and employees that it might need to obtain free food from the German government during the US government shutdown.

The Army later altered publication to remove a list of food banks, but we have the original text here:
US Army Tells Soldiers to Go to German Food Bank, Then Deletes It
The initial 'Shutdown Guidance' for the US Army Garrison Bavaria included instructions to go to German food banks.

Under the program all families, regardless of income, can get their child care fees covered.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.
