There is a simple reason why you cannot compare this to 'the industrial revolution': what is being replaced is not a single set of jobs - it is ALL general thinking jobs that are at risk.

The Ind Rev mechanised manual labour at a high entry cost. AI does it at a low cost.
Why are the people at the top so clueless?

No - training isn't going to save people and make them be able to tradition into other jobs.... There simply are less jobs unless we magic some new jobs.

AI likely to displace jobs, says Bank of England governor
Andrew Bailey says workers need to be trained to move into jobs that use AI, but adds it might not lead to mass unemployment.

At one point this person has to deal with that simple fact (as does the publication that keeps on adding him to the line-up)

Michelle Mone-linked PPE Medpro wound up after order to repay £148m for faulty goods.

Company has £600,000 assets. Govt is unsecured creditor, won't recover anything.

Hard to trace money in offshore bank accounts.

Govt could sue directors for fraud, will take years, what will it recover?

How THE FUCK is this already 'too late'?

So we have judicial backlogs of YEARS, but not even 18 months ago tampering with election money is 'too long ago'?

How come HMRC can get to my spending 5 years prior without a problem but 18 months is 'too long ago for a police investigation'?

Ex-defense (humanitarian) lawyer thinks that we can just trust the system.....
Crazy times.`

Just shows how either
a) some people just do things for the money and never really cared for what they did OR
b) how your station in life totally obfuscates any other views

Don't know which is more scary.

Can you imagine working under these circumstances?
You are constantly emotionally and physically drained..... and to then still have medical breakthroughs?

THIS is what the Nobel prize for Engineering should go to.
"Under a suffocating blockade and a total electricity blackout, Palestinian doctors in Gaza have engineered a medical breakthrough..."

BMA asked repeatedly for talks with the Health Secretary, he turned them down knowing that this scenario would happen and that he could them blame them for being irrisponsible.

I can't help but then support the doctors now.
It was irresponsible of the Health Secretary to wait this long.
Callum Parr from the BMA explains that the NHS needs more doctors & it needs NHS doctors to stay & thats why the issues of jobs & pay need sorting out

Its a real mystery why a health secretary who's taken large amounts of cash from the private healthcare sector isn't sorting it out, right?

Why are we not hearing anything anymore about the humanitarian crisis happening in Gaza?

Just because there is a ceasefire doesn't mean Israel has stopped with it's shenanigans. It is STILL committing a genocide.
Jonathan Fowler from UNRWA: "The weather conditions are horrific.. not enough supplies are being allowed in.. we remain banned by the Israeli authorities from bringing anything into the Gaza strip"

Two more babies have died from exposure in Gaza.

Hey @theguardian.com - I'm happy for you to report on this... but not that you think this is more important than that Israel has by now killed over 360 people in Gaza since the CEASEFIRE.

Israel is constantly breaking this and not a peep.

But PS should know it's Israel, not 'the Jews' that is evil
