I feel like Instagram, long a core source of overly processed photos of your friends’ lives, kinda slow-boiled-frogged us all into joining quasi-TikTok.
Like, I still open the app thinking I’m gonna see my friends, and then, 5 minutes later, have somehow watched 10 standup comedy routines.

One of the most well timed Twitch clips I've ever seen in my life.
Clipped by @drubie.bsky.social.
I don't know if I will ever say "I'm so boned" out loud during a game ever again.

“AI is coming to take our jobs” no it isn’t. It’s a CEO named Gary taking some shitty advice from a VC who has never had a real job in their life, trying to maximise their quarterly earnings by firing as many people as they can get away with to make number go up, and it isn’t sustainable

he's right, and the bit about the happy accidents is so important. how much of the actual human artistic process is fueled by our innate capability of creative problem solving? and you want to automate that? and for what??? the most generic common denominator, literally algorithmic slop.

My exact experience watching AI bros try to Midjourney their way into actual illustration jobs in a real production pipeline: lol. lmao
Saw an ad for an AI coding app. A guy brags he dropped out of Stanford, types one prompt, and builds a “production-ready Spotify app.” It spits out a hardcoded UI with a few songs, and he declares, “CS majors are definitely fucked.”
As an engineer with actual skills, seeing that made me feel safer.

more evidence for “a bunch of AI cultists dismantled large parts of the federal government because they believed that their LLMs were intelligent and could do the work better” thesis
Reporter: The FDA has a new AI tool that's intended to speed up drug approvals. But several FDA employees say the new AI helper is making up studies that do not exist. One FDA employee telling us, 'Anything that you don't have time to double check is unreliable. It hallucinates confidently'

It's wild that you can trace literally all of this back to Final Fantasy fans who have been driven insane because Final Fantasy games aren't turn-based anymore but refuse to play literally one of the million turn-based games Square (and others) publish because they aren't called Final Fantasy.
I am deeply fascinated with this obsession to use Clair Obscur to prop up whatever narratives we want to reinforce. It feels like no one is interested in engaging with what the actual game is about, but everyone wants to talk about how it's saving gaming in some nebulous way.
Square Enix’s non-committal nod to shareholders is not them promising a big comeback of turn-based RPGs, nor praise of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Realizing you've forgotten a deadline completely and running to one of the uni libraries to write a six page essay 4 hours before it's due makes you appreciate your own self worth in ways no robot could ever con me into.
This sounds like a bit but I’m being serious: kids using chat gpt for their homework are denying themselves the invaluable experience of learning how to bullshit their way through a problem. You drink some caffeine the night before and figure it the fuck out. That’s a skill. You need it in life.
