If you receive an illegal order, you have a duty to disobey.

This isn’t controversial.

A President calling for the execution of anyone who reminds service members of this oath is showing us why the duty to disobey illegal orders is so important in the first place.

Understanding another person’s experience is in our reach. I’ve read this book with my kids and they love this story. It’s made them more educated, respectful, and kind humans. Let us raise young humans to care about each other, and know that we don’t need to hate and fear differences.

“Chicago is where I was born and raised. And honestly, biking just makes me feel at peace. I'm usually not the most calm person - when I'm biking though, my mind is centered. I can pay attention to my surroundings. It's kind of like a meditation for me.” 🧵

The fact that Volvo is acknowledging this is huge and I applaud them for it. It’s frustrating that cab-over designs, which offer superior visibility, are largely unpopular and marginalized in the current North American marketplace.
In tight spaces or heavy traffic, it’s not always easy to see who’s near. Active Side Collision Avoidance Support uses radar to detect cyclists or pedestrians on the sides. If someone’s there, it warns you or even steps in to brake if needed so you can keep others safe, even when visibility is low.

Well, I’ve lived in Minneapolis and Portland, so it seems I should check out moving to Vancouver, Quebec City, or Montreal next. 🤔
These things are always hard to measure, but the Copenhagenize Index ranks Montreal as the 15th most bike-friendly city in the world.

Top 5 in North America:
1. Montreal
2. Quebec City
3. Vancouver
4. Portland
5. Minneapolis

I worry we’ll fall in the next few years though!

I'm sad b/c I'm reviewing CFPs and they're all from men

I know some amazing, talented, smart, non-men who give great talks

I also know if they speak publicly they're opening themselves up for criticism, threats, and so many things.

They're also not given the privilege to travel or do public work

Somebody has figured out how to fingerprint browsers in a cache-busting way using the favicon, so now we're all going to have to deal with a favicon-related CVE and some kind of absurd restriction on how favicons can change. This is why we can't have nice things. supercookie.me/workwise

Even young kids can feel the difference between riding in a protected bike lane and riding without one.

Our children deserve better, and we should demand more.

A future where we are inclusive, caring, and expansive is possible.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

This is cool. I love science. 🧪🧫
Vaccines save lives.

“… the promise of nasal vaccines is that they could induce mucosal immunity along with a systemic immune response.”
Will nasal vaccines consign injections to history?
Nasal vaccines could offer protection against airborne pathogens at their point of entry into the body.
