A while ago some of the British folks I follow were talking about a deranged aristocrat who apparently fucked Hitler and I’m reminded of that. (The story does have a happy ending though, when Britain declared war on Germany she tried to kill herself, failed, and spent the rest of her life in pain)

Clearly the lesson of the Russo Japanese war is that Fighting Spirit and Elan will win out over machine guns. The mistake the Russians made was relying on machine guns and entrenchments that the more mobile Japanese forces could outflank.
