The Supreme Court has given the green light to Holocaust. The only thing that is left to us is not to avert our eyes if it does happen.
ICE is also deeply ignorant: only a tiny number of Somali immigrants aren't either citizens or permanent residents.
ICE is thug scum
Armed ICE agents trapped US citizens in a restaurant and demanded their papers. Federal agents walked into East African restaurants in Cedar-Riverside, MN. They closed and blocked the doors. Then they demanded to see everyone’s papers. Every person present was a US citizen.

In order to "protect women" Texas made it so that women have to go through armed guards with an ID check. They literally created a potty police.

This actually shows what "only US citizens are entitled to due process" boils down to: no one has rights until a knuckle-dragger from DHS deems you a citizen
Chavarria, a U.S. citizen, was held at the airport "for more than four hours and released only after he finally agreed to let the agents search his smartphone, tablet, and laptop computer. The agents...informed him that he had no Fourth Amendment right to resist." @pacificlegal.bsky.social is suing.
CBP agents held this U.S. citizen for hours until he agreed to let them search his electronic devices
A federal lawsuit argues that perusing travelers' personal data without a warrant or probable cause violates the Fourth Amendment.

The root of all the ICE evil is Stephen Miller's deportation quotas, which are leading to ethnic profiling and no consideration of extenuating circumstances. Lots of moderates would probably be fine with heightened enforcement if the sweeps were less random and the immigration courts were fair.

The billionaires can buy the so-called liberal media, but they can't make anyone watch it or read it.
the entire thing is a spectacle based on a professional provacateur who comically gut put in charge of CBS news interviewing the bereaved wife of a far right political rabble rouser. No big mystery why adverts are squeamish. anyone w a media background says no shit
Major advertisers appeared to sit out a new CBS News town hall telecast Saturday, moderated by Bari Weiss and featuring an interview with Erika Kirk.

Lack of Madison Avenue support could challenge the viability of the format, which Weiss wants to expand

"Scrivener's error" is one of those magic words like "state of emergency", terrorist organization", "enemy combatants", that the Trump admin thinks it can simply utter and assume extraordinary powers, no matter how those magic words comport with the actual facts.

Exclusive: ICE has developed a plan to arrest undocumented migrants who try to voluntarily leave the U.S. via the Mexico border, so they can face formal removal.

Why bother? Possibly to juice deportation numbers.

It's being referred to as "Operation Irish Goodbye."

“Operation Irish Goodbye,” as it’s being called, could be aimed at boosting numbers for Trump’s much-hyped deportation campaign.

Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito have some big decisions to make over the next year. If Democrats take the Senate, they may have to put off retirement for another 10 years. That's how long it could be before both the White House and the Senate are controlled by Republicans.

Also it won't work. You can't poach Fox News viewers with serious coverage that is more respectful to right of center sensibilities. NewsNation is already trying and failing. You can only get them with rawer meat, as OAN and Newsmax have done, the only channels Fox has ever considered a threat.

$38T is the national debt, which has almost nothing to do with the balance of trade.
The way Trump talks about the problems he caused by unilaterally imposing tariffs is fairly insane, even by his standards.

I write words. Words are written. Words that form writing. Words to the wise. Word to your mother. Word to your father too. Have you heard? The bird is the word. My word is bond. Bond, James Bond. I, too, was shaken, if not stirred. Shaken by my words. The words I write. Because I write words. Word.

Don't forget that they made a movie about Stephen Glass, another insidery tale that didn't even have a blond heroine having video sex with a Kennedy scion.
I am now imagining the streams crossing with Sydney Sweeney playing Olivia Nuzzi in the inevitable film adaptation.

This is it right here, the exact bad thing. Can't say Nuzzi was entirely good for nothing
This passage gets at why Nuzzi is both interesting and frustrating as a figure in contemporary life:

“I had never been interested in politics, exactly. I was interested in characters..:”
