My gift to my other brother was a 28-page zine of Dennis the Menace cartoons with captions from The Far Side, inspired by the time a newspaper in Dayton repeatedly switched the captions for The Far Side and Dennis the Menace

It is very telling and also heartbreaking that, to a man like this, love means a willingness to do harm for. I don't think this man's father ever showed him love.
Men doing this whole “I will vanquish continents for my children” LARP is so goofy in the context of household surveys. It’s nice you’ll kill millions for your daughter, maybe we can start at doing a load of laundry for your wife who does the vast majority of household labor?

I hope everyone has a cozy night with their loved ones this evening. I won’t, though, because I have to head up to Nakatomi Plaza thanks to my flippin’ boss scheduling the holiday office party ON CHRISTMAS EVE WTF (🧵)

I don’t mean to sound extreme, but I don’t think we should have torture camps for people with criminal records either.

The insane thing to me about using AI to “help come up with ideas” is that I never, ever struggle with a shortage of ideas and I’m sure you don’t either. The issue is having the money or resources to expand upon ideas, while the people richest in those repeatedly hurl them at tech that doesn't work.

WAKE UP DEAD MAN is about an impossible murder, among other impossible mysteries; it’s also about the sociopolitical implications of two opposing conceptions of Christianity and of Catholicism in particular. In a word, it’s SDG catnip, and I loved it.
In ‘Wake Up Dead Man,’ Benoit Blanc goes to church
The third installment in Rian Johnson's murder mystery series offers two contrasting visions of the church—and a reflection on mercy.

Butlerian Jihad is the only just war
“If a ghoul robs the grave of my dead grandmother and dares speak to me in mechanical mimicry of her voice, defiling all my dreams of her, I will hunt it in this life and the next until I crush it like the vermin it is and bring its lifeless head to lay at her feet.”

“So… that’ll be a no?”

Of course I would say this, but we need to talk about the moral & ideological case for play & leisure more than ever. So much political discourse - especially from the super-rich - assumes we ought to construct society around forcing citizens to spend most of their one, unrepeatable life working.

I miss my dad a lot, 3.5 years after he died. I find this idea horrific. A video of a simulacrum of my dad pretending to respond to what I say would be spitting on his memory. He wouldn't want this, I don't want this, and anyone who does want this needs to talk to a grief counselor.
Nightmarish idea for a startup tbh
