That, Taher says, “is a lie.”

Das ist super. Es gibt ganz sicher sinnvolle Anwendungsgebiete, das wollte ich gar nicht anzweifeln. Bei Reportagen etc ist für mich der Benefit aber aktuell noch recht gering.

Aktuell va zur Transkription von Recherchegesprächen, weil ich's da nicht genau brauch, sondern nur als Erinnerungshilfe bzw damit ich weiß, wo ich nachhören muss. Bei anderen Tasks ist für mich persönlich der Nutzen (noch) nicht groß genug, (auch um ein diffuses Unbehagen aufzuwiegen)

Hat Markus Marterbauer schon einmal bereut, Finanzminister geworden zu sein? Es ist Montagmorgen, und Österreichs Minister für die Zahlen sitzt in seinem Büro zwischen Gemälden, Bücherregalen und Bergfotos. Es gäbe eine Menge Gründe, auf die Frage mit ja zu antworten. Die Budgets sind strapaziert, für den Finanzminister gibt es aktuell wenig zu verteilen, außer schlechten Nachrichten. Im neuen Job hat Marterbauer, lange Chefökonom der Arbeiterkammer Wien, wenig eigenen Spielraum und muss Dinge mittragen, die er früher noch kritisiert hätte. Bereut habe er den Wechsel noch keinen einzigen Tag, sagt er, bevor er zu lächeln beginnt. ›Aber es sind auch erst sechs Monate.‹

John Patrick Looney war ein Mob Boss im Illinois der 1920er Jahre, dem auch eine Zeitung gehörte (Rock Island News). Das meinen Leute vermutlich, wenn sie sagen, Journalismus ließ sich früher relativ easy querfinanzieren.

Looney had a hand in match fixing, prostitution, illegal gambling, and extortion. Gambling and prostitution took place in the basement of the building which housed the Rock Island News. He had also been accused of extortion and blackmail. He allegedly would have one of his prostitutes walk up to a man and throw her arms around him, and once she did he would snap a photograph. Looney would then threaten to publish the photograph in the Rock Island News unless a cash payment was provided.
