This is one of the most tragically beautiful things I've seen at pride: A straight dad offers hugs to Pride participants because many never got that kind of love & support from their own dad.

So many LGBT+ were raised to feel ashamed of who they were. This is why we have Pride & why we NEED #Pride.

Also, I’m astounded by the number of times I’ve heard women call other women “females.” Like??????? OH NO, THEY GOT TO YOU TOO????

Internalized oppression is terrifying.
In my experience, people who call women “females” have rancid vibes. You can smell their brain-funk from a block away.

very astute.

"ive come for your songs. and your stories."

it also shows the inherent 'value' (for lack of a better word) of a people come from their stories and art. and that the taking of that culture os a bloody, soulless, consuming business that must be done in the dark.

This is so incredibly sad. It's no secret Wisecrack has been one of my favorite channels, and @michaelburns.bsky.social has been one of the best dudes I have met through the years via the phil. content pipeline.

Also worth pointing out making YouTube sustainable is VERY difficult.

Important point to add to this discussion about “luxury goods.”

Not only should we talking about where they’re made, and by who, but also where are the raw materials to make them are sourced, namely Africa.

Pointed thread, and what clicks for me is how deeply attitudes toward norm-breaking align with ideas of criminality, and who is expected to fight/transgress - or temper and restrain - in specific ways. Just unpack ‘white [collar] crime’ for ex… weaseling out, deception, vs forcefulness.
Almost like maybe y'all want the spicy words, you want somebody to move you, but you don't actually trust them same ppl to legislate? Just saying.

I really, really, really need white folks to examine their expectations of non-white people and especially Black ppl right now. Enough avoidance.
