A Longtime Criminal Defense Attorney Breaks Down the Viral Video of the Renee Good Killing
Every frame is worse than the last. This is one of the most egregious examples of U.S. government violence caught on tape in this century, and we Americans are right to be extremely angry about it.

Why do ICE agents wear clothing that says 'Police' on it?
Are they police?
This is the ICE agent who murdered a woman by shooting her multiple times in the face.

I just left the Venezuela briefing.

It's worse than you thought.

Oil company executives seem to know more about Trump's secret plan to "run" Venezuela than the American people.

We need public Senate hearings NOW.

Maduro successor Delcy Rodriguez banned from UK for targeting political opponents

The interim president of Venezuela was added to the UK sanction list back in 2020, and is still there, having been sworn in after Maduro's capture. She is one of many members of the Maduro regime designated by the UK.

Even as the world changes dramatically, UK discussion of Brexit goes round the same old loops. I wrote a piece on the @ukandeu.bsky.social site in *2016* about the 'sector-by-sector' approach Starmer's now raising. Some details no longer hold, but the basic points do: ukandeu.ac.uk/is-a-sector-...

Take five minutes to watch this video by the always excellent Prof. Pagel @chrischirp.bsky.social to understand under-the-radar authoritarian actions that you may have missed in these last few weeks.
While all the attention is on Trump's actions in Venezuela right now, here are some stories you might have missed over the holiday period told in 5 minutes.

By way of background, here is my @prospectmagazine.co.uk post on when is an order an "unlawful command" about that video of the six members of Congress.

NEW

When is an order an ‘unlawful command’?

And why has Trump reacted so furiously to six members of Congress correctly stating the law?

By me, at @prospectmagazine.co.uk

(In which I go and look at the actual law and guidance in US and also UK.)

🚨🧵on Venezuela

While the final US military operation last weekend might have been under cover of darkness, the build-up to it was out in the open for all to see.

I've constructed some timelines of the immediate build-up covering both the strikes and the supporting actions...

Did she know that when she said of her conversations with Trump, “He wants to keep on blowing boats up until Maduro cries uncle,” she was underwriting a future war crimes indictment against him?

She’s *confessing* that Trump is engaged in the very *definition* of terrorism, *not* drug interdiction.
