#PopGen New preprint of the team on the discovery of a very high rate of polymorphic duplication in a marine bivalve.

Imagine looking at the distribution of the allelic coverage fraction at heterozygous calls in an indivdual and getting this distribution 👇 😱😱😱

New #popgen tools I found that use a likelihood method to mitigate small sample size problem when calculating IBD that can be great for #consgen purposes: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

This has Windows implementation as well as Linux and Mac! Let me know if anyone has tried this :D

Forbes column from #shark researcher @melissacmarquez.bsky.social: a study of spadenose sharks on #India 's West coast finds microplastics "...in every water sample collected, 97.9% of GI tract samples and 95% of gonadal tissues."

Published version of our spatial simulations paper led by Jiseon Min and Elsie Chevy is up 🔐! This was such a fun paper to be a part of and a valuable resource to folks thinking population simulations of all kinds, even non-genetic ones! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10....

Like many of you, I have very strong, negative opinions about the current state of affairs, and I discuss those grievances with people daily. On this platform, I would like to share a very useful data analysis workflow that I've found in the effort of better transparency and reproducibility🧵:

Admixture (rescue?) + killer whales + Australia + @andrewfoote.bsky.social et al. = 🤩 #PopGen #MarEvol

The 2nd publication from @bellareeves.bsky.social PhD thesis finds a genetic rescue effect from admixture between distinct killer whale lineages. Likely the cause of high genetic diversity in regions with low killer whale density. Open access in Mol Ecol: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10....
