Is any major news outlet programming from Portland this week? If it's a war zone, the guys in cargo vests should be doing live feeds in front of the boarded-up shops. And if it's NOT a war zone **and the President is flagrantly, brazenly wrong**, isn't that a huge story??

Going to say this one more time, as a native NYer and long time follower of these issues: FREE BUSSES ARE NOT WITHIN THE MAYOR’S CONTROL.

All the bus lanes and things like light sequencing are. But not making the busses free.

I hear all of that but that requires serious public spending which is not going to happen here, especially under Trump. Remember also that the MTA is a STATE agency, not managed by the Mayor at all.

I truly hear the appeal. Just ask you to consider whether reducing the fare and putting some money into more frequent service would be a good trade off.

The bus I take most often has 20 minute waits — making it effectively useless.

One thing to take from this is that legacy media’s attempts to win back GOP audiences have utterly failed. If those attempts have also eroded trust among Dems and Independents, then they’re a massive own-goal.
