They killed >127 people aboard boats, in 33 attacks, in 5 months.

And the amount of cocaine found at the border keeps _increasing_.

All they have to show for it is a collection of gruesome videos.

As more reporting emerges about the Dilley uprising led by children, I think reporters must clarify what family detention is. These are jails where children and their parents are detained together, and there is a long history of protests at these facilities because of horrendous conditions inside.

"Plans for ‘mega centers’ and jails in nearly two dozen communities… Currently, there are more than 73,000 people in ICE custody, a record. The new sites could give the agency an additional 76,500 beds."

If the existing beds remain, that would be space to detain 150,000 humans.

we are now focusing on those with CRIMINAL records says the administration that won’t stop lying about who had a criminal record or not and always defines someone being here in a way they don’t like as automatically having a criminal record
tom homan’s little speech means nothing has changed unless things change on the ground and even then, I can’t think of a person there who I’ve spoken to who isn’t in a “we’re not falling for it” mindset. Even a slight pause on this or that thing can be ramped up five seconds after Dems and media…

This bill passed both chambers in Kansas today —>
1. The most extreme anti-trans bill ever proposed is currently rocketing through the Kansas legislature.

It would empower bounty hunters to search for trans people in bathrooms, even in private businesses, and sue them for large sums of money.

The House is voting on it today.
Kansas Advancing Anti-Trans Bill Allowing Bounty Hunters To Patrol Private Business Bathrooms
The bill, which is racing through the Kansas legislature, stands a significant chance of passing the Senate.

Last week in Minnesota, I watched ordinary people risk their lives to protect their neighbors. In the process, they not only won a significant—though not final—victory against authoritarianism, they proved virtually every MAGA social theory wrong. (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

There's been a lot of discussion about the echoes of the civil rights movement in the protests today, with people obviously drawing comparisons between the strategies, tactics and coalitions that were vital then and are still vital now.

But this post has me thinking about a different echo ...
I suspect right now Stephen Miller and the other nazis are meeting to discuss how a place not as “nice" or "peaceful” as Minnesota will provide better oxygen for their lies and goals of martial law.

This is basically how I view the subject. Like, no duh, the United States has done some incredibly awful stuff over the centuries. But we also have a very powerful strand of humanitarianism, especially in the post World War II era, and I will damn well lean into that part of our national identity.
People who say this are clearly speaking aspirationally about a shared American creed they hold dear. “Have you heard of the Trail of Tears?” is not a very helpful response, because they probably have and the priority right now is moral opposition to fascism and not fake-educating each other.
I fear my tipping point into madness is "Thus is un-American" posts in response to ICE terrorizing immigrants. I beg you to open Wikipedia (I would say a book but let's start small) and read up on The Trail of Tears, Fugitive Slave Catchers, Japanese internment, Indian Boarding schools & Jim Crow

Massive, systemic Fourth Amendment violations because … reasons.
ICE secretly told its officers that any time someone has been ordered removed, ICE can break down their door.

It has been accepted for generations that the only thing which can authorize agents to break into your home is a warrant signed by a judge. No wonder ICE hid this memo!
