It depends, especially not knowing if we’ll receive the back pay we should be entitled to, as rules vary from state to state. And my employer is in DC, which is also challenging, living in VA.

Yes, it’s law as of 2019, but I definitely don’t trust this administration given how little the law has stopped them so far.

Thanks! That only helps if the government actually pays us our back pay, which they’re threatening to withhold. So now I’m worried I’ll take out a loan and be unable to pay it back.

It’s not our first (as my spouse has been active duty 15 years so far), but it is our first with me also being federal meaning neither of us getting paid. It’s truly the worst.

Americans literally fought a revolution to get rid of soldiers "guarding them" in their streets.

I never thought I’d live to see the day when some Americans would recoil at the sight of Soldiers guarding them.

All seemed to be well when the National Guard was in bareknuckle brawls during GWOT though.

Do you know how weird it was for us on active duty seeing them there? With us? Fighting?

I always wondered how we got to that point. Where the Guard of a state was fighting off ambushes in some foreign land.

Now they get to guard their own neighbors. Their own countrymen.

But those same Americans would shed a tear seeing those Guardsmen come home in caskets from a war nobody cared about.

Further proof that for some Americans and the media, they only love Soldiers when they’re dead.

this is wild: while Stephen Miller's guy was in Minnesota for his uncle's funeral, somebody was able to see his entire phone and take pictures of his Signal group chats talking about military deployments to Portland, and brought them to the Strib (gift link: www.startribune.com/trump-offici...)

Kash Patel has "summarily dismissed" a trainee for displaying a pride flag.

"Summarily" means without attention to formalities. And there are formalities for firing a federal employee.

So the twit Kash is admitting that the firing was done in a pique of bigotry, not in accordance with the law.
